What can I do?
Medical workers have helped with direct patient care and consultations in the hospital, orphanage, and clinics. The residency program and hospital staff also benefit from lectures given by medical personnel.
Non-medical workers are also vital to LIGHT work. Babies at the orphanage need extra love, holding, and some need extra feedings. Auxiliary roles in the countryside work can lighten the load for the medical team. Non-medical workers can also serve as a great source of encouragement for the long term staff and their families.
When and how long?
LIGHT can host short and long term trips. Short term trips are usually at least 10 days. Itineraries are customized according to worker needs and the current situation at LIGHT.
How?
You may come as an individual or with a team. LIGHT has often partnered with other organizations and medical schools to make trips possible.

Family Practice Training Program
These donations along with profits from the family practice clinic will go toward purchasing texts, medical supplies, and paying salaries for the staff.
Orphanage outreach
LIGHT uses this budget to supplement the services provided by the Chinese government orphanage. Milk, fluoride, multivitamins, baby formula, medications, medical equipment, staffing, special feedings, skilled nursing care, and diagnostic tests are made possible through your generosity! Children's surgeries
With China's one baby policy, the orphanage population has a higher incidence of babies requiring costly medical intervention. Donations here enable LIGHT to fund diagnostic tests, simple surgeries, hospitalizations, and often life-saving interventions for these precious little ones. Donations are also used for underprivileged children outside the orphanage.
Countryside clinics
Funds allotted for the countryside clinics purchase medicines and medical supplies for our work in neighboring communities. Your donations help transport our LIGHT team to rural communities where access to medical care is limited. When patients need more than primary care, countryside clinic funds help the underprivileged pay for diagnostic tests, hospitalizations, and medical procedures.
