Our group is called LIGHT (Liaoning International General Health Trainers). We have three goals:
1) Excellent patient care
2) Family Practice Doctor training
3) That our light would so shine before men that they would see our good work and glorify our father in heaven.

We see patients in an international clinic, at four local orphanages, in the countryside, and at two nursing homes.

We are training "Family Practice" students. They are all graduates of a 5 year medical school and some have previous specialties- however we are training them in a 4 year specialization program in FP. Through these residents, it is our hope to train the next generation of top level FP residents, and to begin to have an impact on the mid level and low level FP Doctor training (which we are already privileged to have to some extent).

The residents have rotations at high level local teaching hospitals, do outpatient training with us at local orphanages/ countryside clinics and nursing homes, and take turns seeing patients at our international clinic supervised by Family Practice clinical preceptors. They also attend one "academic afternoon" a week at our clinic, and see orphans from foster homes, indigent patients from the city, and expats at the base city teaching clinic.

We have some specific goals as far as our light shining- in the countryside, and at the orphanage, and really wherever we are. But we have still so far to go toward realizing even some of the major ones. Thankfully, sometimes the fruitfulness happens in ways we were not even expecting. We get to enjoy the results of His activity among us.
